NBSC JOINS IQA IMPLEMENTATION WORKSHOP UTILIZING AUN-QA MANAGEMENT TOOLKIT
Northern Bukidnon State College (NBSC) joined a three-day capacity-building workshop on Institutional Quality Assurance (IQA) implementation utilizing AUN-QA IQA Management Toolkit Version 1.3, held September 15 to 17, 2026, in the Dr. Juanito Bruno Gymnasium of Western Mindanao State University (WMSU), Zamboanga City.
The program gathered experts and higher-education quality practitioners to deepen institutional understanding of quality management systems and strengthen IQA mechanisms across member institutions, hosted by WMSU.
Anchored on the Eight Building Blocks of University Quality Management, the program emphasized that quality assurance goes beyond preparing documents or meeting accreditation and certification requirements. Facilitators stressed that it is a shared institutional responsibility built on effective leadership, evidence-based decision-making, stakeholder engagement, accountable processes, and a sustained commitment to improvement.
The learning sessions were facilitated by Prof. Dr. Clarita D. Carillo, Assistant to the Rector for Planning and Quality Management at the University of Santo Tomas; Dr. Nguyen Huy Phuc, Head of the Testing and Quality Assurance Office at the Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City; and Asst. Prof. Dr. Ornlatcha Sivarak, Deputy Dean for Education and Academic Development at Mahidol University’s Faculty of Graduate Studies.
The activity was organized through the collaborative efforts of the ASEAN University Network (AUN) Secretariat, the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization Regional Institute for Higher Education Development (SEAMEO RIHED), the ASEAN Quality Assurance Network (AQAN), and the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP).
NBSC’s delegation was led by Dr. Daniel S. Lerongan, Head of the Quality Assurance Office (QAO), along with the College’s Institute Heads and Area Chairpersons under the AACCUP Level 2 Program Accreditation Committee: Dr. Christine C. Royo, Director of the Curriculum and Instruction Division (CID) and Area 3 Chairperson; Dr. Mary Cris J. Go, Head of the Institute for Teacher Education (ITE); Shiela Mae M. Orozco, Head of the Institute for Computer Studies (ICS); Ma. Cassandra R. Tubongbanua, Head of the Institute for Business Management (IBM); Genevieve Marie E. Bolanio, Head of the Department of General Education Curricula (DGEC) and Area 2 Chairperson; John Mark L. Boyonas, Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) Coordinator and Area 1 Chairperson; Rowena E. Bagongon, Director of the Student Affairs, Services, and Development Division (SASDD) and Area 4 Chairperson; Leah S. Cuyno, Area 5 Co-Chairperson; Alven L. Gomez, Director of the Community Extension Services Division (CESD) and Area 6 Chairperson; Fritchar H. Gevero, Head of the Campus Safety Management Office (CSMO) and Area 8 Chairperson; and Karl Clyde Stephen C. Acosta, Head of the Health Services Office (HSO) and Area 9 Chairperson. They were joined by QAO staff May Rose E. Madrid and Mia Marisol M. Magpulong.
NBSC’s participation in the workshop reflects the College’s continuing effort to strengthen its internal quality assurance systems and sustain a culture of continuous improvement across its academic and administrative units.
